BirthHans Elmer Nilson was born, in Omak, Okanogan County, Washington, USAG.1
NoteThis is from a letter written by Lillian (Nilson) Mittman on July 8, 1996 'Hans died August 31, 1944. His 2nd wife, Elaine came home around 10 pmfrom bowling and found him. It apparently happen very quickly and was a2nd serious one since his 1st one 8 years ago. He had a very good dayand even bowled in his own bowling league earlier in the day. We misshim a lot and he had been retired from our old home orchard for 8 or 9years so had some time to relax and do what he wanted for awhile. Heloved wood working and made many beautiful vases, bowls, jewelry boxesand apples. He even made wooden chains that were carved like Roy used tomake. We just visited with his wife the end of June as we came home froma good visit with Ellen and Bruce Gavin in Oroville. Ellen's health is not real good either. She's having some confusion anddisorientation that Dr's believe is just from growing older. She andBruce were here (Spokane, WA.) on the 3rd of July 1996 to see Dr.'s inSpokane and what way they might help. They wouldn't stay all night asBruce at 80 years old is still ranching and had 44 head of cattle hewanted to get home and tend to. Ellen reminds me of Grandma Nilson - so very small and always busy -except now Ellen tires easy too. We took our 5th wheel trailer and visited Ellen the last of June.Ellen's had a really hard working life all these years with raising 7children, ranching and having a dairy those many years too. I told hershe was to sit on her chair and tell me what she wanted done and wherethings were so I did all the cooking and dishes and canned 14 pints ofcherries Bruce had picked. She showed me a quilt she and Grandma Nilsonhad made together one time. Grandma was at our house.
