Obituary: "In the closing hours of Sunday evening Mrs. Leonard Small of Sherbrooke passed away in the Prince County Hospital where she had been receiving treatment for a broken arm. The death was altogether unexpected, as she had been in her usual health for some time, apart from the suffering and inconvenience resultant from a broken limb, so the news came a great shock to her husband, now left alone, as no children had been born of this union. For some years Mrs. Small has been an asthma sufferer, which, at times, caused much inconvenience. She was a most estimable woman, deeply loved and respected by her neighbors to whom she was ever ready to lend a helping hand. Born in Wilmot Valley 68 years ago, Ella May Clarke was the daughter of the later Mr. Charles & Mrs. (Lefurgey) Clarke. When quite a young girl she was married to Gordon Schurman, Sherbrooke, and to them was born a son, Ray now a resident of Boston who had planned to leave Boston on Wednesday to visit his mother. After her husband's death, Mrs. Schurman returned to her girlhood home from where sometime later she married Mr. Small and returned to Sherbrooke where she has since lived. Surviving are, in addition to her husband and son, two brothers, Fred Clarke, on the homestead; William Clarke, in Summerside, and five sisters Mrs. Harry Walker, of Summerside; Mrs. James A. Harding, of Norboro; Mrs. Earnest Mountain in the United States; Mrs. Russell Badger and Mrs. William Woodside in Asquith, Manitoba. She is resting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Small, Summerside Road East, where the funeral will take place on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock."¹
