Ed worked as an adult for Shaws Printing and also National Drugs. He operated streetcars and buses in Winnipeg. He was a signalman in the Canadian Armed Forces, volunteering for duty for active service in 1941. Ed became a naturalized US citizen on April 18 1950. His mother was a nurse, having moved from England in May 1906. Ed was married twice with his son Leslie dying in Feb 1985 at the age of 49 years in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
