- Ed was one of five children; Gladys,Percy, Leslie, and Florence. Ed began his printing experience, at age 8, in his father's print shop called 'Plain Talk' in Strathclair. Ed worked as an adult for Shaws Printing and also National Drugs. He operated streetcars and buses in Winnipeg. He was a signalman in the Canadian Armed Forces, volunteering for duty for active service in 1941. Ed became a naturalized US citizen on April 18 1950. His mother was a nurse, having moved from England in May 1906. Ed was married twice with his son Leslie dying in Feb 1985 at the age of 49 years in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
