- A newspaper clipping (name of newspaper not recorded) dated 1937contributed by Louella Ryan of Island Falls, Maine, reads: The death of Josephine Estabrook, wife of Weyman N. Estabrook of thistown occurred in the Milliken Memorial Hospital at Island Falls onSaturday, December 18, 1937. Mrs. Estabrook was born in Oakfield October3, 1886, daughter of the late Calvin and Emily Brown Shields. She was married to Weyman Estabrook on May 16, 1906, and has since livedin this town. She was interested and helpful in all social activities ofthe town, and never too busy to show enthusiasm for any school eventsthat were important to children. Probably this is why her home was oneof the most popular in the community, especially with young people, asher children's friends were always her friends too. Surviving, besides her husband, are three sons, Chalma of Centralia,Wash., Philip and Calvin of Dyer Brook; two daughters, Evelyn andMillicent of Portland, two grandchildren, Wayne Robert of Centralia,Wash., and Constance Darlene of Dryer Brook; and three brothers, Haroldand Charles of Oakfield, Philip of Bangor, and one sister, Mrs. LawrenceLeavitt of Merrill. Funeral services were held in the Baptist Church at Dyer Brook onWednesday afternoon, Rev. Perley M. Quigg officiating. The bearers wereHarold and Charles Shields, Roland Estabrook and Lawrence Leavitt. Themany floral tributes and church filled with relatives and friends bearevidence of the esteem of the community. Interment was in the family lotat Dyer Brook. Beside those of this vicinity who attended the funeralwere Mrs. Weldon Ramsey of Waterville, Mrs. Robert Kelso, Mr. and Mrs.Guy McKenzie and Harry McKenzie of Island Falls, Mr. and Mrs. FrankEstabrook of Linneus, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Estabrook of New Limerick, Mr.and Mrs. N.C. Estabrook and Mrs. Wm. Burton of Houlton, Mr. and Mrs. JohnClark and Mrs. Judson DeLong of Mars Hill.
