- Mercy Tozer (Tozier), born about 1708 in New London, New London County,Connecticut and died about 1804 in Southport, Suffolk County, New York.John Blodgett says her name was Mercy not Mary and resided in EastHaddam, Connecticut. Mercy was a mid-wife and doctress. A descendant,Hon. Charles Tubb, says 'Many times in Connecticut, she treated patientswith smallpox. After the Revolution, she lived with her son Lebbeus atSouthport, New York. There she got it (smallpox) in the natural way, anddied shortly before 1805, aged nearly 100 years.'
