- Frances Olivia Nilson was the first born the 30th of November, 1902 at Grants Pass, Josephine County, Oregon to Alfred ‘Nelson’ and Hilda (Pearson) Nilson of the Alva Community, Wyoming. On the 25th of June,1919, Dillon Bacon Ruland and Frances Olivia Nilson were united in marriage at Bell Fourche, South Dakota. Their only child, Elbert Dale, was born at Alva, the 30th of October, 1922. Dale married Mary Catherine Kester on the 27th of November, 1947 and they have a son, Dan Albert, and a daughter, Elaine Marie. These children are both married and Elaine has two children. - OBITUARY OF FRANCES OLIVIA (NILSON) RULAND Hulett, Crook County, Wyoming - Services for Frances Olivia (neeNilson) Ruland, 84, died, Alva Crook County, Wyoming will be at theAssembly of God Church in Hulett, with Elder Merlin O’Haver and PastorRodney Hackett Officiating. Burial will be in the Alva Cemetery with arrangements byFidler-Roberts Northeastern Wyoming Funeral Chapel of Sundance. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at the Fidler Chapeland Saturday from 2 p.m. to service time at the church in Hulett. Mrs. Ruland died Saturday at Napa, California while visiting asister. She was born 30, November, 1902 at Grants Pass, Oregon, toAlfred and Hilda Nilson. The family came to Crook County and ranched in the Alva area, whereshe attended Oak Creek, Dirks and Beaver Schools. She was a substituteteacher when she was in the eighth grade. She married Dillon B. Ruland, the 25th of June, 1919. They operatedthe general store and Post Office at Alva until July 1946, when theymoved to the family ranch, known as the Clayton Place, east of Alva. She was a charter member of the Beaver Creek Homemakers Club, and acharter member of the Crook County Chapter of the Wyoming HistoricalSociety, a 40 year member of Rebekah Lodge #34 of Hulett and AmericanLegion Auxiliary Post #80 at Hulett. She is survived by one son, Dale Ruland of Sundance: a granddaughterElaine Marie (Maurer) Ruland of Casper: a grandson: threegreat-grandchildren: a brother Carl Theodore Nilson of Casper: and asister, Agnes Elizabeth (nee Quick) Nilson of Saint Helena, California She was preceded in by her husband, Dillon, who died in Alva, CrookCounty, Wyoming, the 14th of August, 1982.
