- Alvin H. Nilson, 78, of Bothell, passed away 22, January, 1997peacefully at his home. He was a 40-year veteran of the Grand Lodge of theInternational Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He was a member of theU.S. Army, serving as a Military Policeman during World War II. He was a longstanding member of the motorcycle club, “The Retreads.” He was an avid flyfisherman, outdoors man and loved gardening. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter Darene Lorraine Kahn; son-in-law, Tim; granddaughter, Ariana; grandson, Alex; stepchildren,William and Jacqueline Boettcher; daughter-in-law, Wendy; grandchildren, Mendy andRandall Boettcher; sisters Ellen (nee Nilson) Gavin, Lillian (nee Nilson Mittman,Lois nee (Nilson) Lowman. Preceded in death by wife Delores (nee Graham) Nilson;son, Alvin Gerod; brothers, Hans Nilson, Arthur Nilson; and sister, Emma (neeNilson) Parker. A Memorial Service and Celebration of his life will be Saturday,January 25, 1997, at 2 pm at the Sons of Norway Hall, 23905 Bothell-Everett Highway.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may given to UW Foundation, UW Medical Affairs, Box 358220, Seattle, WA 98195, or charity of your choice. Sunny had Parkinson’s disease, a chronic progressive nervous diseasechiefly of later life that is linked to decreased dopamine production in thesubstantia nigra and is marked by tremor and weakness of resting muscles and by ashuffling gait. Sunny also suffered from Myeloplasia, relating to, or being a disorder of(as Leukemia) marked by excessive proliferation of bone marrow elements and especially blood cell precursors.
