- Roy Lambert Nilson was born at the Nilson ranch on Bear Lodge nearAladdin, Crook Co., Wyoming, 20, November, 1899, and died 16, June, 1993,Aladdin, Crook Co., Wyoming. He had lived most of his life in this area. Garnet Waters was born in Mugford, England, 13, Jan., 1903, and moved toTerraville, South Dakota in the fall of 1903. The family moved to theranch near Sundance, Crook Co., Wyoming in August of 1905, Garnet livedher childhood in that area. Garnet taught school at the Weaver Schoolnear Aladdin, boarding at Lyle & Famie Weaver’s (a 1st Cousin of Roy’s).Roy was working at the W.W. Woods sawmill at the foot of the Bear lodgeso their first home was there. Their 1st daughter, Evelyn was born atthis time (11 May, 1930.) They lived at the Nilson homestead during the winter of 1930, and Royworked at the Waters ranch the spring and summer of 1931. Roy then got ajob at the Carl Nelson sawmill in the fall of 1931. The mill closed sohe worked at the Waters ranch again the spring and summer of 1932. TheNelson sawmill re-opened in the fall of 1932 so they moved back, residingthere until the mill closed. Roberta was born 18, November, 1934, while they were living at the Nelsonsawmill. They moved to Hulett on 02, October, 1942 where they rented ahome from Mildred Pearson. They latter bought this property and built anew modern home, moving in on 19, September, 1966. Roy continued workingin sawmills in the area until his retirement in 1965. Garnet died 23,June, 1985 and is buried at Sundance, Crook Co., Wyoming. She waspreceded in death by her parents. Roy died 16, June, 1993 at Tulsa,Tulsa Co., Oklahoma and is buried at Belle Fourche, Butte Co., SouthDakota. NILSON Roy Lambert Nilson died June 16, 1993 at the age of 93. He was born on20, November 1899 at his parents homestead on Bear lodge between Aladdin& Alva, Crook Co., Wyoming. He grew up and attended rural schools inthe area. He also attended school in Belle Fourche, SD for one year. On15, June 1929 he married Garnet May Waters at her parent’s ranch homenear Sundance, Wyoming. They lived at the Woods sawmill at the foot ofthe Bear lodge and later at the Carl Nelson sawmill on Beaver Creek. InOctober of 1942 they moved to Hulett, Crook Co. where Roy continued towork at various sawmills in the area until he retired in 1965. After hisretirement, he built a new home in Hulett. He enjoyed working in hisgarden and yard and as a hobby, created many things from cedar. He madewalking canes, vases, toothpick holders, small cedar chests and cribbageboards and would give them to anyone who could use them. He is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Mahoney, Tulsa, Tulsa County,Oklahoma and Roberta Phelps, Siloam Springs, Benton Co., Arkansas; onsister Elsie (nee Nilson) Rooms, Port Orchard, Kitsap Co., Washington; 6grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, 4 sisters, 3 brothers and one grandson. Grave side services were held at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche,Butte Co., South Dakota, on 26, June, 1993 with Rev. Mertlin O’Haverofficiating.
