- Abner was at least 1 child born to Ben, at this time Ben's spouse is not known (1997). Among the first of the Pre-Loyalist families from Maugerville and elsewhere began to appear was Abner Brooks, who had come from Brookfield, Massachusetts, to Colchester County, Nova Scotia, and from there to the St. John River. Abner Brooks and his wife and eleven children had been on the list of those whom two months provision had been granted in 1784. Tamerlaine Campbell, Benen Foster, and several sons of Elijah Estabrooks and Archelaus Hammond, all on that list, also moved up river. Esteys McKeens, Perleys, and Stickneys from Maugerville, Hartts and Coys from Gagetown, Kinneys and Shaws from Burton, also joined the procession up the river and seized eagerly upon the land the regiments had declined.
