- Obituary: "One of Alberton's oldest and most respected residents, Mr. John Gordon, passed away on the 13th inst., at the advanced age of 84 years. For about a year he had been in failing health and although from his great age the end was not unexpected, it came somewhat suddenly. A sorrowing wife, three sons, Messrs. George Campbell, James Townsend, and Hugh John, and three daughters, Misses Mary E., Annie and Sara, are left to mourn. The funeral took place on Sunday to the Presbyterian cemetery, Alberton, and was largely attended, the services being conducted by Rev. H. G. Gratz and Rev. A. D. McDonald."
