- Death Notices - Verl Wesley Foxworthy - In Lamar Dailey News, Lamar, Colorado (date unknown) Verl Wesley Foxworthy, formerly from the McCabe and Wiley area, passed away Jan. 19, 1991, in Boise, Idaho, at the age of 72. Verl was born in Edna, Kansas, in 1918. At the age of 9 he moved with his family to Prowers County. Verl was a 1942 graduate of McClave High School. After graduation, Verl served in the Merchant Marines, and then he joined the U.S. Marines, serving until the end of World War II. After the war Verl returned to Colorado to attend college. He then worked in Colorado, Missouri, and California before retiring to Boise, Idaho in 1989. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Vernice Foxworthy; by his brothers, George, Warren, and Jay; and by one sister, Lillie Bradshaw. He leaves to mourn his death one brother, Joe (Opal) Foxworthy of Fort Collins; one sister, Anabel Lukenbach of Boise, Idaho; aunts Gayetta Foxworthy and Pansy Foxworthy of Eads, Colorado; and 14 nieces and nephews including Lee and Leda Hall of Boise, Idaho, and Larry and Lois Oliver of Lamar, Colorado. (note) - When George and Marlene Foxworthy were killed in an automobile accident they left behind 2/3 children which Verl took over to raise until they were on their own - (according to stories told by Gayetta Foxworthy).
