- James and Olga lived in Grand Forks. James worked on the railroad, and then became an automobile mechanic. In 1932 they moved to his home farm near Walhalla and James farmed for five years. I n 1937 they moved into the town and he resumed mechanic work. In 1942 they moved to Beaverton, Oregon. There James was a mechanic for Beaverton's District 48, and then became supervisor of transportation for the school district. He retired in May 1971.
