- "Vernon attended Prince of Wales College and received an engineering certificate from Acadia University in 1922. He owned and operated a wholesale greenhouse in Reading, Massachusetts from 1926 to 1967, in which year he retired. Before her marriage, Ethel worked as a metallurgical secretary for two years. She was in charge of advertising make up for the magazine Cosmopolitan. A member of the D.A.R., she has been treasurer and registrar of the chapter. She is a descendant of John Baker, Loyalist, who became William Schurman's neighbour when the loyalists settled Bedeque in the 1780's. They live 1971 at 456 Haverhill Street, Reading."
