Obituary: "Mr. Marcus Deacon, Freetown, after an illness of only two days passed away this (Tuesday) morning, aged only 55 years. He was one of the most progressive farmers in the province, and was always foremost in promoting every movement that tended to advance the good of the community. He took a lively and effective interest in school affairs and his work in this respect will long be remembered. In politics he was an enthusiastic Conservative, and he always made it his aim to assist in working out the principles of the party that he knew to be sincere in their intentions.
He leaves to mourn a family of five sons and five daughters. The sons are Benjamin, in Winnipeg, John and Fred, in British Columbia, Frank and George at home; the daughter are Mary, Summerside, and Emma, Lottie, Minnie and Bertie at home. His funeral will take place on Thursday afternoon.3,2
