Although he had been in failing health for some time, the news of his passing came as a great shock to his relatives and friends, and was very unexpected.

"He leaves to mourn his wife, who was formerly Miss Dorothy Walsh, daughter of Rev. Chas. and Mrs. Walsh of Camden, also two children, Jarvis and Susan, besides a number of brothers and sisters. The funeral, which took place on Monday, Dec. 11 from his residence, was under the auspices of the Masonic Order of which the deceased was a member."
