"A sad and distressing accident occurred at Kensington on Tuesday morning attended by fatal consequences. The victim was Doris Kathleen, little daughter of John Walker. While the men of the house were out and while the mother was upstairs dressing the child ran down stairs and it is supposed picked up and lighted a match, which set fire to her highly inflammable clothing. Before the mother could respond to her cries, she was so severely burned that she died about twelve hours later. The sympathy of the community is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Walker in their sad bereavement."4,3 |
