Survived by her children: Elizabeth (David) Gingerich, Waterloo, Ont; William (Irene) Ingham, Danville, California, U.S.A; and Susan (William) Tupper, Saskatoon, Sask. Lovingly remembered by her eight grandchildren. Also survived by two brothers Balfour (Shirley) Read, Summerside, and Verne Read, Halifax, N.S., and a sister-in-law Marjorie Read, Charlottetown. He was the son of Benjamin Read and Jane Allen.1 
Marriage*Ephraim Read married Rosara Chappell, daughter of James Chappell and Dorothy Thompson, in 1833, in Prince Edward Island. Reads Corner, east of Summerside, was named for Ephraim Read, who came to Prince Edward Island from Westmorland County, New Brunswick. Ephraim worked in the fields of tanning, currying, harness making and boot & shoe making.1,2 
Occupation*Ephraim Read was operated a tannery in Read's Corner, Prince County, Prince Edward Island.1 
Biographical Note* "A notable session was the Commissioner’s Court held here in 1860 by the famous Joseph Howe, Col. John Hamilton Grey and other leading men, to investigate land grievances. Among others who gave evidence before this Court was Ephraim Read who testified that he was the owner of one thousand acres at what is now Read’s Corner; and when asked the value of uncultivated land, replied that “wilderness land is like self-righteousness – the more of it a man has the worse off he is.”" in 1860.3 
Death*He died on 3 March 1865, in Demerara, British Guyana.1
