Mr. James Rayner, Traveller's Rest, died at 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25th, of pneumonia. He was born at the old Rayner Homestead, Traveller's Rest, Sept. 9th, 1846. His death makes the second break in a family of brothers and sisters, the first death being that of Mrs. John Harris, Sherbrooke, some years ago.
He is survived by five brothers: Silas Rayner, Tignish; John W., West Dover; William of Morris, Alta; David of Boston, Mass., Edward, West Devon; and one sister, Mrs. Fanny McDonald, Sherbrooke. Besides his wife, Mrs. James Rayner (nee Mary Ellen Milligan) there are left to mourn five sons and four daughters: Mrs. James Wagner, Freeland, P.E.I., Mrs. William Heffel, Traveller's Rest, Mrs. Chas. Mathieson, Kinde-y, Sask., and Mrs. H. E. England, Traveller's Rest, Frank J. and Boyd at home, Daniel, Traveller's Rest, John Weston, Holbrook, Mass. and Alfred B., Cheekwan, Alta. Services will take place today at the home at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Mr. Ross of Bedeque. Interment at People's Cemetery. Pallbearers B. L. Rayner, - Rayner, Archie H. Rayner and E. H. The deceased was a member of the Methodist Church for fifty years, where she was a most faithful servant to her Master, and was never weary of comforting the sick and needy. Besides her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Joseph Cannon of Brockton, Mass., and three sons: Edward of Lot 14; William and Henry of Lot 16 are left to revere the memory of a dutiful wife and kind mother.
