Obituary: "Vernon Parsons of Millvale Dies in Mill Accident

Young Man Was At Work in His Father's Mill When Struck by Broken Belt

Vernon Parsons, 28-year-old resident of Millvale, was fatally injured about noon Tuesday in his father's mill. He was struck on the head by a belt after it broke and died a half-hour later without regaining consciousness. Dr. J. R. Murchison of Hunter River was summoned but the injured man died before the doctor reached him. His injuries included a fractured skull.

The young man was married at Charlottetown on December 18 to Miss Lillian McInnis, a neighbor girl from Millvale. He was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Parsons.

Following the accident Royal Canadian Mounted Police at Charlottetown and Coroner Dr. I. J. Yeo were notified. The latter decided an inquest was not necessary. The mill is a combination lumber mill and grain crushing plant.

Surviving in addition to his grief stricken parents and wife are two sisters and a brother. They are Mrs. Sheldon Stewart, Millvale; Mrs. Jack Hagen whose husband is in the army and who is believed to be residing in Moncton, and Elmer Parsons, at French River."4,2
