Notes for STELLA ADELL PARKER: Info from Phyllis Adair DeWitt, 8/13/01: Here is a little more trivia about Stella. Before she met myGrandfather, she was engaged to Edward C. Minas, founder of the MinasDepartment Store in Hammond. It was an expensive department store, withhigh quality merchandise. The store was THE place to shop, if you wantedthe BEST. I don't know if he had already started the store, or if thatcame 'after' his breakup with Stella. She was engaged to him when she wonthe title of Most Beautiful Woman in Hammond. The store was still goingstrong when I was a young married woman. ========================= She had one son Homer DeWitt. We have a picture of her with her grandsondated August 1959. Her father Hyman lived with her when he died in 1914 at age 73. (theparents had been split up and lived with various of the daughters). Shedivorced her first husband, re-married and moved to FL. Info from Granddaughter Phyllis Adair DeWitt received 8/01: She divorced her 2nd husband when in her 80's. Her Grandson Richard 'Ed'Edward DeWitt brought her back to IN to live with him. She died at age89 in the Crown Point hospital, and was cremated. Year's latergranddaughter Phyllis Adair DeWitt buried her ashes on my son Homer'sgrave in Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond. She had gone down hill quickly after Richard 'Ed' Edward DeWitt broughther back to Cedar Lake.
