Note*We have a wonderful written record from Theresa Jane Warren: 'My grandmother Eliza Marden was left a widow with four children, Richard (it seems as though his name was Thomas) Mariam (my mother), David and one other. My grandmother afterward married Josiah Chase from New Hampshire,whom I well remember. They had eight children by this marriage: Margaret, Mary Eliza, Edmond and Freeman who died as a young child. Hewas the youngest. --these were all that I knew' 'Mary Eliza married Benjamin Thompson. He was cruel and they were separated. She took the youngest Freeman and left him the oldest:Chester. Freeman was four years old when his father kidnapped him and took the two children to Wisconsin. He had them think their mother was dead. Freeman married and settled in Iowa on a farm. Chester got track of his mother from a letter he found in a trunk. He investigated and went to Maine and visited his mother. Afterward, he made me a visit when we lived in Tacoma (WA) on Ainsworth Ave and he worked as a salesman for a harness company--a traveling salesman through Montana. When I went to Kalispell, Montana, I got track of him and we had a good visit when he visited Kalispell. It is the last time I saw him. He had one son attending school in Oregon' Theresa Jane (Warren)Damon (before 1942.)
