See her scrapbook for a microfilmprintout of her marriage to William Harvey Coy on the 9th day of March,1882 and photos of Mary. The Coys were pioneers in Grenfell -- Mary Coy was one of the first whitewomen, and they had the first cabin on Crooked Lake and in theQu'-Appelle Valley. Mary played an important part on the School Board, & many a discouragedyoungster was given inspiration to stick with his studies & complete hiseducation. Many children of some poorer families were supplied withbooks, & in some cases even their school fees were paid by this generouslady. Mary had a leading part in the formation of the ProvincialHomemaker's Association, & was a Charter Member of the local Homemaker'sClub. She was instrumental in organizing the Hospital Guild, & was president ofthis organization for many years. She took an active part in the work ofthe Grenfell Agriculture Society, & at the time of her death held theoffice of Honorary President. She was also a Charter Member of theImperial Daughters Of The Empire: & of the Eleanor Rebekah Lodge. Shetook an active part in politics & was an ardent supporter of the LiberalParty. |
