Note*Albert's nickname was 'A.J'. He served in World War I with the 24th Battalion of the Victoria Rifles in France, and was discharged in June 1919 at Fredericton. He was sports minded and loved salmon fishing on the Nashwaak River near Fredericton and in the Miramichi River near Blissfield, New Brunswick. When his grandchildren, Richard & Ron were small, they had a 'Flying Saucer' (snow sled). A.J. thought he would show them just how to get from the top to the bottom of the hill in a hurry. He forgot that there was a rock midway down and it was barely covered with snow. He stood on the 'Flying Saucer' and pushed off. He was doing fine and had even noticed his audience looking out the window at him. He hit the rock, the'Flying Saucer' took off in the air and A.J. flew too. Arms and legs were going around like a windmill, but gravity caught up with him and he landed! He never complained of aches and pains, but he did tell the boys never to follow Grampie's example.

The family moved to another houseon the property, sharing it with a family who had been renting it.During the winter, Andrew purchased a partially completed house a fewmiles away at Mill Cove. In April, the house was moved on the Grand Lakeby 22 teams of horses. They stuck a burst in the ice which knocked theskids from under the house and left it in four feet of water. Afterrectifying this set back and overcoming various other obstacles, thehouse was brought ashore on April 7, 1926. Note*Andrew Gunter owned and operated a wood boot named 'The Mayflower' that arried sawn lumber down the Saint John River. (The river current wasn't strong enough to carry the wood down to Saint John.) One year, black cholera hit the City of Saint John and the citizens ran short of many commodities including wood. Andrew saw the opportunity and loaded his boat, but couldn't find anyone willing to accompany him to the stricken city. Undaunted, he sailed off by himself. When he reached his destination, a man came to the wharf offering to purchase his entire load. After speedily dispensing of his wares, Andrew hurried back home, unfortunately without contracting the dreaded disease. His farm was at White's Cove on Grand Lake.
