Uriah enlisted for three years Feb. 4, 1777, under Capt. William Ellis, in Company Eight; received a bounty of 20 pounds; age 36 years. Uriah Carpenter, being at Oxford, Mass., enlisted for nine months in the Continental army; age 35; stature six feet; complexion light; hair light brown; eyes light; joined Captain Kingsbury's Company, Colonel Hawes' Regiment; enlisted about April, 1776. It appears that he enlisted again, residence given as Danvers, Essex County, Mass., March 29, 1781, for three years.
