Mr. Cairns, who was a man of 70 years of age, was busily engaged on his farm at St. Eleanor's during the day and drove home about 7 o'clock, talking in his usual happy mood on the way, and to all appearance seeming in good health. On arriving at his home he partook of tea, and in a short time complained of a pain in the head, and about fifteen minutes thereafter, before medical aid could be summoned, he expired. The cause of death is only a supposition (apoplexy), and it would be well that in cases of a similar nature in the future, the cause of death be fully enquired into."4,5
