Transcribed by N. Jennifer Atkinson, September 13, 1999.
"John Teed married Mary Jane Bulmer of Frosty Hollow on May 29, 1856. The Reverend Thomas N. De Wolfe, rector of Sackville and Dorchester, performed the ceremony witnessed by Elizabeth Teed, the groom's sister, and George Moore of Dorchester. The bride was one of the thirteen children of George Nelson Bulmer and Latitia (sic) (Merrill) Bulmer, and the great-granddaughter of the first George Bulmer who, at the age of twelve, came from Yorkshire with Charles and Susannah (Coates) Dixon, later apprenticed to a stone mason and grew up to marry the second daughter of his sponsors."
"John Tidd and Mary Jane Bulmer were married in the Anglican Church and in 1867 both were confirmed into that church by Bishop Medley in the Trinity Church, Dorchester."
----------------- Note: The author, Helen M. Petchy, stated that Mary Jane Bulmer's mother was Latitia (Merrill) Bulmer, but later in the publication stated that her mother was Lavinia (Merrill) Bulmer. It has been commonly believed that the name Lavinia is correct.1 |
