Notes for ANN ELIZABETH WHITE: She was a small woman, weighing about 90 pounds. In her older years shesat in a rocking chair, rarely talked, wore dark, drab clothing. Aunt Pearl says she was called 'Eliza'. In later years she was shiftedfrom family to family. She even lived with Walt and Bonnie for a while. We have snapshots of her at quite an old age. Daughter Millie writes ofher being old and wrinkled, shuffling along and soon to go to heaven tobe with Hymen. Aunt Pearl gave me the comb Liza wore in her hair whenshe married, a thimble with the end open that was hers and a pen wipe shemade for Aunt Pearl about 1900 +. Daughter Millie said her mother was born in German Twp., NY. The 1900 census shows her as Ann E, and that she was born in January 1841in New York State. Letter from Aunt Pearl dated Jan. 7, 1981: 'Grandpa & Grandma - I wastheir 'pet', he would fix home made bread with real butter, and loads ofdark brown sugar, also, Grandma always gave me apples to eat, I recallone day I asked for an apple, she fixed up a little basket full and toldme to sit on the porch and eat all I wanted. Another time, Hazel and Ihad measles, I was so sick Grandma brought me a yellow canary bird in acage. Hazel got well sooner, than I. I was Grandma's pet of all thegrandchildren. I do not remember anything about Grandpa's background. Iliked Grandma's father, Grandpa White. He was real nice, I do notremember his death.'
