; Obituary: "The community around Kildare Capes was cast into deep gloom over the sudden death of Dorothy, the 14 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Wells, who died at the Prince County Hospital on Wednesday night, March 1st., following an operation for appendicitis. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, 5th inst., and was one of the largest ever seen in this part of the country. There were some beautiful floral tokens of esteem, including a pillow from the family, a wreath from Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Rayner, and a wreath from Mrs. Alvin Mosher. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. W. H. Harding from the text “Thy Will be done on earth.” A quartette “Sometime We’ll Understand,” was tenderly sung, and the long line of carriages then followed the remains to the Greenmount cemetery, where interment was made. Dorothy was a very bright girl and gave promise of being a very fine musician; she was universally loved and her death comes as a shock to her young friends. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Wells in their sad bereavement."⁴

The death occurred at Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Thursday, April 28, 1983 of Mrs. Irene Godkin, 225 Linden Avenue, Summerside in her 80th year. Born at Winchester, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Algernon and Amanda (Rayner) Wells. She was a member of Summerside Christian Church. She was a sports enthusiast throughout her lifetime and was an avid golfer and curler.

She is survived by four sons, Kendall, Belmont Lot 16; Al, of Australia; Robert, Richmond, Ont. and Heartz, Charlottetown. Also by five grandchildren. As well, she is survived by a brother Ernest Wells, Braintree, Mass., and a sister-in-law Roberta Godkin, Richmond, Ont. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home until Sunday noon, then to the Summerside Christian Church for funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment in Peoples Cemetery Summerside. Visiting hours this evening 7-9 and Saturday 2-4 and 7-9. In lieu of flowers, donations to a society of your choice would be appreciated."³
