Mr. Walker was born at Cape Traverse on May 19, 1890, the only son of the late Hugh B. Walker and his wife Eliza Lefurgey, and was actively engaged in farming, a life work he enjoyed until his retirement in 1973.
"His last years were spend (sic) in Crapaud. On February 24, 1979, he became ill and entered the Prince Edward Island Hospital and failed to recover.
"Of a sweet and unassuming nature, he was a man of strong convictions, and to those who knew him, integrity and dependability made up the creed by which he lived. His many friends can testify that he thoroughly understood the meaning of what it is to be a good neighbour.
"Left to mourn the passing of a loving husband and father, are his wife Neavey Myers of Victoria, whom he married in 1919, and three children: Eileen, Mrs. Robert J. Haines, Niagara Falls, Ontario; Mildred, R.N. of Toronto, Ontario; and John of Crapaud. Granddaughter Roberta, and two great grandchildren all of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Also his beloved only sister Floss - Mrs. J. McCurdy Bell, Charlottetown."9

He resided in the house that was built by Albert Craig, which he purchased from Charles Taylor. He remained in the store business until 1921, when he sold his interest in the store to Mr. Auld, and his house to Davis Baker.

John Stafford Walker was the Superintendent of the Sunday School in Freetown in 1919, which was then called the Freetown Union Sunday School. The Walkers were affiliated with the Methodist Church.2
