Obituary (Summerside Journal): "Mr. Harry Walker, Well-Known Fox Rancher Instantly Killed by Accidental Discharge of a Shotgun

A shocking fatal accident occurred this morning at New Annan, as the result of which Mr. Harry Walker, well-known fox rancher of that place, was instantly killed by the discharge of a shot gun. Mr. Walker had been informed of the presence of a skunk in the ranch and taking a shot gun along he proceeded to see if he could despatch the marauder.
As he was about to pass through the door of the ranch he laid the shotgun against the wall, when it slipped and in its fall discharged the contents of the gun, lodging in Mr. Walker's head, killing him instantly.

Dr. Howatt of Summerside was summoned but nothing could be done. Dr. Howatt is coroner and in view of the evident circumstances of the case decided that an inquest was unnecessary. Members of the R.C.M.P. were also informed of the accident, which occurred about 10:30 a.m., and proceeded to the scene. The body was brought to Summerside and taken to Bowness' Undertaking Rooms. The time of the funeral has not yet been decided.

Mr. Walker was about 67 years of age, a man held in high esteem by all who knew him. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Miss Jean Walker, who is employed in the crockery department of R. T. Holman Ltd., Summerside. Deceased also leaves one brother, Mr. David Walker of New Annan, and one sister, Mrs. Thomas Carruthers, Summerside, to all of whom the profound sympathy of the community will be extended in their sudden bereavement."12,4,13,14

Obituary (Summerside Journal):" At Senlac, Sask., on Dec. 28th, 1922 there passed away to his eternal reward in the person of Ira D. "When not enjoying very good health he, in company with his wife, formerly Miss Bessie Whitehead of Clinton, and one small child decided to remove west, residing for a time in Broadview, Sask., removing later to Senlac where he first engaged in store-keeping, from which he retired, later to take up his old occupation of farming, in which he was still engaged when death claimed him. Emigration*James Archibald Walker emigrated in 1889 from Prince Edward Island, Canada. This date of immigration, as recorded in the 1920 US census, is unlikely, as he was a member of his parent's household at the time of the 1891 Canada Census in Prince Edward Island. He settled in what would become Arizona.8
(First) Marriage*He married first May Lauritzen, daughter of Jens Severance Lauritzen and Dorothea Hanan. James Archibald emigrated to the U.S.A., and met May Lauritzen in Leadville, Colorado. They married and settled in the Arizona territory that ultimately became a state.2,9

His second wife Ann died from the same cause on the same day, at 5:30A.M., at the Yuma General Hospital.
