Some three years later, she was married to Edmund Tudor. She was twelve years old when she married, and pregnant a year later. The Wars of the Roses had begun. Edmund, a Lancastrian, was captured by the Yorkists in mid-1456. He was imprisoned at Carmarthen Castle in south Wales, where he died of the plague on 3 November 1456.
