Death* | Sarah Esther Schurman died on 6 August 1924, at age 67, in North Carleton, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada ; Obituary: "The Silent Reaper has again visited our community and thrust its sickle deep in the hearts that are so sadly bereaved, and laid low a dutiful wife, a fond and loving mother, a kind friend and neighbor, always ready to help in time of sickness or any kind of work she could do. For many months it has been known that Mrs. John Pearson, North Carleton, has been in failing health, but her cheerful manner had kept alive the hope that her illness was not so serious. Only a few days ago reports came of favorable symptoms, recovery was anxiously looked for. But it seemed hope against hope for God’s hand beckoned unaware and she peacefully passed to her eternal reward. The end came on August 6th, 1924. Everything that loving hands and tender nursing could do was done by one of the most dutiful daughters and doctors’ skill but it was all of no avail.
She leaves to mourn, not as ones without hope, a husband, a heart-broken daughter, also an adopted daughter, one brother and one sister, and many friends. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Mr. Fitzpatrick, of Bedeque, interment in Cape Traverse cemetery. The pallbearers were as follows: Harry Lowther, John Hamill, Oswald Lowther, Charles Sharkey, Reggie McFarlane and Louis Pearson."2 |
