Carey ofMontville, Maine We have another letter written to her (Theresa Jane Warren), 27 BeachStreet, Boston Mass. from ________? who lived at Bradford, Stark Co.,Illinois She married James Hartson Damon in on Dec 31, 1879 in Bradford, Illinois Eva Mae Damon was their only daughter. Eva's brother was Warren Damonwho was the Editor of the Mohave Co. Miner in Kingman, Arizona. Theresa Jane Warren is listed in the 1920-21 Bremerton City Directory as'Mrs.Theresa J. Damon', 'furnished rooms' and her home is listed as'333-4th'. We know that her daughter Eva Mae (Damon) Mehner was married and livingin Bremerton at this time, too. We wonder if Warren Ave. in Bremertonand Dr. John F. Damon the famous territorial 'Marrying Parson' arerelated to her ancestors in New England. John Warwick., who with his wife, the former Olive Ennis made their homeon the farm once owned by Mr. Wiliam Puffet. John filled this positionably for 20 years. In 1941 the Warwick's moved to Grenfell, and theirson Chester took over the farm. John became (1970) a member of theGrenfell Town Council, a position he held at various times over 26 years. 'All of there six children: Dorothy, Chester, Cecil, Viola, Eileen andGlen attended Viewland School. Chester married Ethel McLellan ofCandiac, Canada who came to Viewland School to teach. Cal, their secondson is now farming the home farm. His wife is Lynn (Hardy). Their sonis Johnathon. Chester and Ethel live in Grenfell where they have beenactive in business (Laundromat and Car wash) and social affairs (Bellesand Beaux Square Dance Club). Cecil served overseas in the RCAF1942-1946 and returned to purchase the Bob Stewart farm which heaffectionately called 'The Ranch'. His wife is Edna (McDonald). Theyhave recently built a new home in Grenfell. Their daughter Donna marriedDaryl Zorn and they have two children Michael and Michelle, in Regina. John and Olive Warwick have three daughters. Dorothy is well known inGrenfell where she operated a beauty parlor is married to Jim Nixon, ateacher in Regina, Saskatchewan. Their daughter is Marilyn; their sonRobert John. Viola worked in the TB Bank before her marriage to Don Crawford. Theformer Wright farm became their home and the fine shelterbelt givesevidence of their effort. After they moved to Grenfell, their son Markwith his wife Brenda (Dean) and children Cory and Kelly made their homeon the farm. Mark also works in the city in the winter. Don and Viola's daughter Sandra married Dale Willson and lives inSaskatoon, Saskatchewan with children Shane and Lisa. Eileen, the Warwick's youngest daughter married a Grenfellite WilliamClarkson and lives in Ontario, Canada. Glen Warwick, the youngest son ismarried to Jean (Callum) and they have Kriss, Shawn and Leane. Since John Warwick passed away in 1979 Olive has continued to keep herhome and care for her yard and lovely flower beds. Note* | Martha Martha 1630 in St. Catherines, Herts., England. d. Apr. 7, 1715 atWestbury, Nassau Co., NY. Came to Nassau Co., NY in 1650 and becameprominent in the Quaker movement. As described in the book, Adam and AnneMott, Their Ancestors and Descendants, 'A meeting had been established atWestbury, when the place was still called Plainedge, on the 25d of 3dmonth, 1671. The meeting was to begin on the 25th of 4th month, and soevery fifth First day, and was held at Westbury or 'Plainedge,' at thehouse of Edmond Titus. Other meetings were held on the intervening Firstdays at other Friends' houses in other neighbourhoods at Jericho,Bethpage, &c. After the coming of Henry Willis in 1677, the meetings weresometimes held at his house instead of the house of Edmond Titus inWestbury. In 1697, the Monthly Meeting revised the rule, and it wasdirected that 'a meeting shall be held every five weeks, on the Firstday, to begin at Edmond Titus', the next First day at Jerusalem, the nextat Bethpage, next at Jericho, and next at Hempstead. Traveling ministers,when they reached Westbury, usually stopped at the house of Edmond Titus,and after the coming of Henry Willis they sometimes stopped with him.' m.Martha (Mary according to Samuel Willis notes) Washburn (also spelledWashbourne), daughter of William and Jane of Hempstead, Nassau Co., NY in1655 at Westbury. She b. Dec. 18, 1637 in Bengeworth, England. d. Feb.19, 1728 at Westbury. (Apr. 17, 1727 according to Hinshaw). Edmond wasleft a horse in his mother's will. Settled in Hempstead, Nassau Co.,Westbury, Nassau Co., NY. NY by 1658 when he was given 10 acres on a listcompiled on Nov. before moving to Westbury, Nassau Co., NY. |
